England were kept on the field for most part of the third day’s play at the Sardar Patel Stadium B Ground in Motera as Haryana went onto put up 334 on the board. The Haryana team led by opener Rahul Dewan’s unbeaten century had the Englishmen fielding for as many as 112.4 overs.

Resuming Day 3 on a personal score of 77, Rahul Dewan batted right till the end to come up with an unconquered 143 (from 315 balls with 17 fours). Dewan was well supported by no.10 Chanderpal Saini who stuck in there for 81 balls to make 35. For the Englishmen, Tim Bresnan and Stuart Meaker took three wickets each while Samit Patel took a couple of wickets.

England XI then got to bat for 38 overs in the rest of the day’s play. Both Nick Compton (54* from 111 balls with 7 fours) and Jonathan Trott (61 from 117 balls with 10 fours) kept their wickets intact to take England to 118 for no loss.
